United Way Reaches 2008 Goal
The Tulsa Area United Way celebrated the official end of its 2008 campaign Nov. 11 by projecting that it will exceed this year’s campaign goal of $23.9 million.

FOUNDER’S BRONZE: On Nov. 6, Up With Trees, the River Parks Authority, Mayor Kathy Taylor, friends, family, and dignitaries joined together to unveil a bronze statue in honor of Sid Patterson.
Action Continues Downtown with Dedication
Downtown Tulsa continues its revitalization with the recent dedication of the H.A. Chapman Centennial Green Park, which was dedicated recently by Mayor Kathy Taylor, together with officials from Land Legacy and the Oklahoma Centennial Commemoration Com-mission. The downtown park is located on the south side of Sixth Street between Main Street and Boston Avenue. Land Legacy is a nonprofit organization that spearheaded the project in partnership with the City and private donors.

Celle Mayor Visits Tulsa
INTERNATIONAL VISIT: Mayor Kathy Taylor met with Celle, Germany Lord Mayor Dr. Martin Biermann on Oct. 6. The two city leaders met for the first time and discussed the development of economic, educational, and cultural ties in a continuing active partnership between Tulsa and Celle.

Mayor’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award Underway
From more than 100 business plans, seven Tulsa entrepreneurs have advanced to the final round of the Mayor’s Entrepreneurial Spirit Award business model competition. On Nov. 5, the seven finalists will present a two minute elevator pitch or overview to the panel of Spirit Award judges.
Largest Bond in State History Gets Board Approval
The Jenks School board unanimously approved the largest school bond issue in state history October 9. The $153 million bond issue is different from previous issues because it is a lease revenue bond, which will allow the district to quickly address their construction needs, meaning that today’s Jenks students will reap the benefits.
