Tulsa Area Real Estate Values Go Up
Sometimes good news is hard to find in these tough economic times; however Tulsa area real estate values have actually increased. January 2009 average home prices increased 10.6% from January 2008. (January 2008 average price saw a slight decrease from January 2007.) Inventory levels, including the amount of new listings decreased; the available inventory for the month was 7,639 compared to 8,154 in January 2008. This means that fewer homes were available “for sale” throughout the month of January.
PSO Honored for Ice Storm Service
The Edison Electric Institute on March 11 honored Public Service Company of Oklahoma with the association’s “Emergency Recovery Award” for its effort in restoring electric service to its customers following a winter storm that blanketed Oklahoma with ice.

Julie Hackler joins Avansic, one of the country’s leading digital forensics and e-discovery firms, as an account executive.
She will be responsible for servicing and educating the legal and business communities on digital forensic technology, as well as the expansion of Avansic’s client base in Tulsa, Oklahoma City and new markets. Hackler graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor of Science in Math and Science Education. Since then, she has worked for Abbott Laboratories and Johnson & Johnson as a senior sales representative where she was responsible for educating physicians, specialists and new employees on current pharmaceutical products. Hackler has also served as a second grade teacher at Eliot Elementary.
PSO Signs Wind Energy Deal
Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), a subsidiary of American Electric Power, announced recently that it has signed long-term agreements to purchase approximately 198 megawatts (MW) of wind energy from two new wind farms planned for western Oklahoma.
Destiny Led Kim Jones to Tulsa Air and Space Museum
Those who fervently believe in destiny and the notion of following one’s heart to success will find much solace in the story of how Kim Jones became curator for Tulsa Air & Space Museum (TASM). When he was offered the position in 1998 it was the end of a long journey, a lifelong dream come true and for all practical purpose it was a match made in heaven.
2009 Tulsa Boat Show Reports Strong Attendance
This year’s Tulsa Boat Sport and Travel show was another success. The show started with much enthusiasm with Boat Show President Phil Keeter and Board Member Ann Swanson displaying Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor’s Boat Show Day Proclamation Feb. 2. The show ran through Feb. 8.
