Kristin Chenoweth Holds Third Camp
For her third-annual Broadway Bootcamp, Kristin Chenoweth returned home to Broken Arrow to train and mentor 45 students from around the country for one week in June.
BAPAC Director Named
Kim Vento, 22-year Broken Arrow Public Schools employee, was recently named director of the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center.
Vento replaces Mark Frie, who recently took the position as director of the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. Frie and Vento managed the BAPAC alongside one another since 2014.

B.A. Fire Department Receives Grant
The Broken Arrow Fire Department recently received a $120,000 Assistance to Firefighters Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency for the purchase of six Stryker Power- Systems to be installed in the department’s front line ambulance fleet. The Power- System lifts and lowers the cot into and out of the ambulance, reducing spinal loads and the risk of cumulative trauma injuries. The Power- system also improves operator and patient safety by supporting the cot throughout the loading and unloading process.

While “Bixhoma Lake has been a hidden gem for a long time,” says Bixby City Councilor Richard Stewart, if area residents have anything to say about it, the area won’t stay that way for much longer.
Largest Chevrolet Dealership In Oklahoma Breaks Ground
In July, Glenpool city officials welcomed to the city what will become the largest Chevrolet dealership in Oklahoma.
Mark Allen Chevrolet recently broke ground at Highway 75 near 166th Street in Glenpool and is the first business to locate in the city’s Tax Increment Finance () district that was formed last year.
Adventures in Downtown Bixby
ESCAPE HATCH: Owners Jay and Karla Jenkins sit in the front room of Escape Hatch Bixby, which opened in May in downtown Bixby at 7 W. Dawes Ave. The puzzle-solving adventure concept has become a nationwide trend. On Aug. 23, Escape Hatch Bixby will hold its Heist tournament, with the grand prize four tickets to see Guns N’ Roses or a cash prize of $750.

Freedom From Hunger Campaign Begins June 21
Citing statistics that show 17 percent of all Tulsans live in food insecure homes, The Salvation Army and Reasor’s are launching the Freedom from Hunger campaign to raise awareness and funds to help those in the community who need help feeding their families. All donations will benefit The Salvation Army’s feeding program at the Center of Hope homeless shelter.

Owasso resident Andy Coleman has announced his candidacy for U.S. Congress, to represent Oklahoma’s First Congressional District.
The district is currently represented by Congressman Jim Bridenstine, who previously announced his intention not to seek reelection following the current term.
Tulsa Chamber Announces 2017 Intercity Visit to Fort Worth
In October, the Tulsa Regional Chamber and community representatives will make their eighth Intercity Visit, this year to Fort Worth, Texas. The annual Intercity Visit program focuses on peer cities in order to learn best practices and hear success stories.
Gathering Place, Riverside Drive to Open in Mid-2018
A Gathering Place for Tulsa () and the City of Tulsa have announced the coordinated opening of Riverside Drive and the park in late spring/summer 2018. In the meantime, the Chapman Foundations Adventure Playground will open in January 2018 with scheduled visits from Tulsa area elementary school children.

As progress continues at A Gathering Place for Tulsa (), the park recently announced its leadership team. has named Kirsten Hein as senior programming officer, Josh Henderson as senior operations officer, Amanda Murphy as senior marketing officer and Steve Terry as senior culinary officer. The team will work together with Tony Moore, park director, in running the day-to-day operations and programming for the park.
