WINUP to Hold National Conference in Tulsa Oct. 8-10
Women’s International Network of Utility Professionals (WINUP) will hold its annual conference in Tulsa Oct. 8-10. This year’s conference is titled “Catch the Oklahoma Dream.”

The Small Business Council of the Tulsa Metro Chamber recently hosted three members of the Tulsa City Council at the Greenwood Cultural Center. Tulsan is NIADA Quality Dealer of the Year
Robert Mulkey, owner of Regal Car Sales and Credit in Tulsa, earned the industry’s top honor when he was named the 2007 National Independent Automobile Dealers Association (NIADA) National Quality Dealer of the Year. Mulkey was recognized at the annual NIADA Convention and Expo in Nashville, Tenn., at the Gaylord Opryland Resort. Mulkey was selected from 24 of the nation’s best independent dealers. He demonstrated an outstanding commitment to quality, customer service, community involvement and to the used motor vehicle industry.

Renaissance GM Wins Honor
John Q. Hammons Hotels and Resorts has announced that John Klukan, general manager of the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center, has received the company’s Sales Leadership Award, presented to recognize general managers who have personally shown great sales expertise, been involved in advancing the sales effort at their hotel, and have achieved excellent sales results. Additionally, under Klukan’s leadership, the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and Convention Center achieved high RevPAR Index growth and exceptional guest satisfaction survey results among Marriott Rewards Elite Members, which earned it the Market Excellence and Customer Excellence-Elite Recognition awards.

Tulsa Author Teaches Power Through Networking
As Peter Biadasz sees it there are a lot of powerful people out there, only some of them don’t know it.
“People don’t do things for one of two reasons: They either don’t know how to or they don’t want to. We provide the ‘how.’ Nothing can be done for the people who don’t want to.”
Biadasz has authored, or co-authored, a series of books in what he could call his “powerful people” series. You can get the gist of these books, all either published or soon to be published, just by reading their titles. Just put “Powerful People” before the title and you have the name of the book.

JA Announces New Program
Junior Achievement (JA) of Eastern Oklahoma has partnered with several Tulsa-area companies, including EDS, State Farm and Williams, to create a new program called “JA in a Day.” The program encourages companies’ employees to sample volunteering for JA and determine if they are interested in participating in JA’s traditional program that includes five lessons averaging 30 minutes each. Representatives from EDS, State Farm and Williams gathered at Owen Elementary on May 11 to announce their donations that will go towards funding this new program.
