In recognition of Philbrook’s largest annual donors, the Phillips Recognition Dinner was held Dec. 13 at the Philbrook Museum of Art. The event was chaired by Suzanne Warren and the dinner catered by Southern Hills Country Club and Chef Devin Levine. Executive Director Brian Ferriso welcomed the guests and introduced keynote speaker Joseph Thompson, director of the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA).

Thompson spoke of his work in western Massachusetts, where he spearheaded the creation of MASS MoCA, the largest center for contemporary and performing arts in the United States, from its inception in 1987 through the present. His vision of MASS MoCA as an open laboratory for both artists and visitors has led to the creation of an institution unparalleled in this country.
Guests for the evening included Sandra Norman, Donne and Sandie Pitman, Betty Price, Barbara and Jerry Ryan, Patsy Savage, Julie and Tom Shirley, Peggy and Charlie Stephenson, Jill and Brook Tarbel, speaker Joseph Thompson, Mary Jane and James Thompson, Myra Trahern, Tammie Blessing, Peter Walter, Janetta and Dick Williamson, Suzanne and Bill Warren, Lacy and Al Whitehead, Ruth Nelson and Executive Director Brian Ferriso and his wife Amy Pellegrin.

Nestled in one of Tulsa’s first neighborhoods is an Italianate villa set in 23-acres of lush gardens and tranquil grounds. Inside, the grandeur of Oklahoma’s oil-rich 1920s is preserved and showcased along with fine art collections from around the globe. The dream of benefactors Waite and Genevieve Phillips, to create an art center for Tulsa, has established Philbrook as one of America’s finest art museums.
