Pitching Leads Tulsa Softball to Doubleheader Sweep at Southern Miss


HATTIESBURG, Miss.  – Jackie Lawrence pitched a four-hit shutout in game one and Jordan Kinard allowed one run in six innings as The University of Tulsa softball team swept a doubleheader from Southern Miss,  2-0, and 9-1, Saturday afternoon at the Southern Miss Softball Complex.

Center fielder Caitlin Everett went 6-for-7 on the day with four runs scored and an RBI. Right fielder Lauren Lindsay went 4-for-7 in the two games with six RBI, three doubles, a home run and three runs scored. With three doubles, Lindsay broke the TU record for doubles, passing Sara Dyer (2005-08), and now has 65 for her career.

Lawrence (9-5) allowed just four hits, two walks, and struck out four in the complete-game effort. Kinard (6-6) gave up just six hits and one walk, and struck out five in the ballgame.

The Golden Hurricane (22-15, 6-2 C-USA) will try to complete the series sweep of Southern Miss (15-20, 0-11 C-USA) Sunday at 1 p.m. Live stats will be available at www.TulsaHurricane.com.
