PlaniTulsa Schedules Citywide Workshops
All Tulsa citizens have a unique opportunity to work with City officials and others to shape Tulsa’s future and be a part of history-in-the-making during two public city-wide workshops set for Sept. 22 and 23.
Mayor Kathy Taylor said all Tulsans should attend and participate in these fun, interactive workshops in order to be a part of the process to create the foundation for a new long-range plan for the city. PlaniTulsa, the comprehensive plan update process, will guide planning decisions related to neighborhoods, jobs and businesses, open spaces, and environmental issues. The City of Tulsa is working with John Fregonese, a nationally recognized, leading expert on planning issues. Mr. Fregonese will preside over the workshops with assistance from local volunteer facilitators. Both workshops will cover the same questions and feature the same speakers and schedule; however, the second workshop will also feature a luncheon before the sessions begin. Participants will work together in small groups to build maps outlining future development strategies for the city, including locations for homes, jobs, transit and open spaces. “Tulsans have an historic opportunity to shape the future of our city through their participation in PlaniTulsa,” says Mayor Taylor. “This is an exciting time for city residents to define the Tulsa of the future. These hands-on workshops are just two of many opportunities for citizens to participate in the process.” “I urge every Tulsan to attend and to bring their friends and families,” Taylor added. “We owe it to our kids and grandkids to ensure that everyone’s voice is heard.”
