Prepare Your Car for Winter
Winter weather can take a toll on your vehicle, so being prepared will help you save money in the long run. Preparing your car before the temperature drops could save you from having car trouble and being stranded on the side of the road without essentials. The Oklahoma Society of Certified Public Accountants offers these tips to help:
Get a tune-up. Breaking down is never fun no matter what season it is, but having car trouble in low temperatures can be torturous. Fix any nagging problems before winter weather hits. Also, it is a good idea to have a routine car maintenance performed to check or correct:
- Tire tread;
- Battery
- Wipers;
- Washer fluid;
- Antifreeze; and,
- Rear defroster.
Accessorize your car with emergency items. Don’t risk being stranded unprepared. Depending on where you’re driving, you may be stuck for a while. It doesn’t take long for the temperature to drop inside your vehicle. Make sure to put these items inside your car:
- Gloves;
- Ice scraper;
- Flashlight;
- Batteries;
- Boots;
- Spare tire and jack; and,
- Water and snacks.
Prepare your vehicle as you do your home for winter. Visit www.KnowWhatCounts.org for more smart money tips.
