The official poster artwork for the 2007 PSO Christmas Parade of Lights was unveiled on Nov. 13. This year’s parade will take place Dec. 8 at 6 p.m. and the route will differ from previous years due to downtown road construction. The 2007 parade will begin at Cincinnati and 10th St. This marks the 72nd year for the Parade of Lights and the 18th year Public Service Company of Oklahoma has been the presenting sponsor.

The 2007 poster artist is Gil Adams. After graduating from OSU-Okmulgee, Gil started work as a designer at the University of Oklahoma in the publications office. Following stints as art director of KTUL, the U.S. Jaycees Headquarters and Phillips Knight Walsh Design, he started illustrating full time in 1990. Since then, he’s also taught illustration classes at OSU-Okmulgee and OSU-Stillwater.

In recent years, Adams has expanded his work to include gallery exhibitions of his oil paintings. Working on site as well as in the studio, he has exhibited his work in Tulsa, Texas, Michigan and recently an exhibition in Lexington, Va. His works include landscapes, still-lifes as well as images of people in everyday life. He recently began teaching oil painting for the City of Tulsa at Waterworks as well as conducting private lessons for adults from beginners to experienced painters.
