Road Construction Continues in Jenks
The continuing improvements to Jenks’ streets will mean road closures and detours for drivers.
Loyd Bell, Engineering Technician with the City of Jenks, said construction activity at the intersection of 5th and D Streets will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 2 and last through Wednesday, Feb. 9.
Bell said the construction is to replace the current drainage swale across 5th and will also remedy the abrupt dip at that location.
During this construction, there will be no through traffic at the intersection, Bell said.
The contractor will provide signage to detour traffic from 5th Street to Birch via B and F Streets.
Bell said only local traffic will be allowed on 5th between B and C Streets and between F and E Streets.
Bell also said construction will begin Monday, Jan. 31 on West Main St. between Elwood and Houston Ave. to replace the bridge over Hager Creek.
The project will include tree removal, water line replacement, bridge replacement and road widening. The project is expected to be completed mid-summer.
The first phases of construction will be off of the roadway and should only cause temporary traffic delays.
