Rotary Club of Jenks ‘Craft of Q’ Set for Sept. 21
The Rotary Club of Jenks, in partnership with the Jenks Public Schools Foundation and Burn Co. Barbeque, announce the reschedule of the fundraiser, “The Craft of Q,” an amateur people’s choice BBQ cook off. The new date is Saturday, Sept. 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Riverwalk in Jenks.
Teams are invited to participate in the inaugural event.
The Rotary Club would like to have 32 amateur cooking teams to join the fun and support a good cause.
Teams may consist of 4–5 people, (amateurs only, please). Entry fee is $200 and you will be provided with the meat to cook for the competition, plus serving supplies.
Teams will set up on Friday, Sept. 20 and receive their meat and supplies at 6:30 p.m. to prepare their foods on site. All teams will cook the same items which will consist of one brisket, two pork butts and six racks of ribs.
Depending on the cooking style, contestants will be able to stay overnight at the Riverwalk in their competition area and enjoy the many restaurants at the Riverwalk Crossing or grill their own food along the river for friends and family. Security and restroom facilities will be available all night. Teams are encouraged to decorate their competition area as one of the awards will be for the best decorated team.
Tasting and judging is Saturday, Sept. 21 from 11 a.m. – 1:30 pm. Live music and entertainment along with inflatables for the kids will be provided while the public votes on its favorite.
Trophies and Awards for the top 10 winners will be announced at 5 p.m.

Those not cooking are invited for a tasting and judging. All day entertainment includes music in the amphitheater, inflatables for the kids and other fun activities along the Riverwalk. Tasting and judging is from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Awards are at 5 p.m. Tasting plates will be sold on-site for $15 each; children five and under eat free.
Each cooking team will receive a “swag bag” filled with items from local businesses. Vendor booths will be available to promote businesss or organizations. 10×10 booths are available for $200 each payable to Jenks Public Schools Foundation.
