Running a Marathon to Help a Village

FIGHTING ARTHRITIS: Jana Headrick is training to run a marathon in Ireland in October to raise funds for the fight against arthritis.
Jana Headrick, wellness director at Inverness Village, is training to run her first marathon and her goal is not only to finish, but to raise needed dollars to support the programs and research of the Arthritis Foundation.
Jana is a member of the Arthritis Foundation’s Joints in Motion Training Team, which will compete in the 26.3-mile race on Oct. 31 in Dublin, Ireland. She is running in honor of the residents of Inverness Village, a Life Care retirement community located at 3800 W. 71st St. Seniors are especially susceptible to suffering from one or more of the 160 forms of arthritis.
“I know this will be a challenge, but is nothing like the challenges faced daily by more than 66 million Americans who are affected by arthritis,” said Jana. “I just feel fortunate to be able to get out of bed each morning and be a part of such a wonderful opportunity.”
“My inspiration comes everyday from the residents who are dedicated to good health in the Wellness Center at Inverness Village,” she continued. “I just think of them and skip the snooze button on my alarm clock for that next long run,” she said.
Please help Jana in her fund raising by sending your tax deductible check payable to the Arthritis Foundation, to: Jana Headrick, 2546 E. 17th St., Tulsa 74104.
