Scott McCoy continues his role as a star figure in greater Tulsa events. The former Jenks Trojan quarterback led his team to the Oklahoma State High School Football Championship twice, in 1999 and 2000.

After graduating from Jenks High School in 2001, McCoy attended the University of Oklahoma, where he graduated with a degree in business management in the spring of 2005.

While at OU, McCoy worked for State Farm Insurance, leading efforts in sales and marketing of property, casualty, life and health insurance for one of State Farm’s most successful agents. The insurance business runs in the family for McCoy, as his father, Mike McCoy, is a retired State Farm Insurance agent, and his brother, Matt McCoy, is a Top 50 State Farm Insurance agent in Broken Arrow.

In July 2006, McCoy began working for Aetna as the large group health account executive in Eastern Oklahoma and Western Arkansas. He was extremely successful, setting numerous records throughout his time with Aetna.

While at Aetna, McCoy graduated from the esteemed Aetna Group School, where he led his class year over year in sales and retention from a middle market sales location in Tulsa. An expert in funding options, McCoy says he “developed many creative opportunities for his clients.” He notes that “solutions included unique funding options such as discount sharing to eliminate fixed cost fees and creative stop loss alternatives.” McCoy says he “excels in case implementation and is very attentive to case details such as network performance and plan utilization factors.”

After nearly seven successful years with Aetna, McCoy executed his plan to open his own full service insurance agency. The Scott McCoy Insurance Agency Inc. was launched in February 2013 with offices at 71st Street and Yale Avenue in Tulsa.

McCoy explains, “We work in specialized teams. Our customers enjoy working with and building a relationship with someone who is an expert in their field. Our corporate motto is “Delivering a promise, yesterday, today and tomorrow.” He adds, “We focus on understanding our client’s business intimately in order to provide a truly consultative and creative approach to risk management.”

Areas of specialization include employee benefits, commercial liability, business property, workers compensation and bonds.

McCoy was very deliberate in choosing the founding leadership for his agency, knowing that these leaders would develop the focused teams that make up the core of the consultative approach the agency takes.

Sue Chimento is the Chief Financial Analyst and has been in the insurance industry for more than 20 years, spending a majority of that time in group benefits. She is an expert in predictive modeling, trend analysis, network discount comparisons and custom financial reporting. McCoy says, “Our clients find great value in Sue’s extensive knowledge and experience with human resources and employee benefits. Her financial analysis allows our clients to optimize their insurance spend, while maximizing benefits.”

Evan Tipton serves the agency as Producing Manager. He is in charge of talent acquisition, training and business development. Tipton is a graduate of Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration. He has been in insurance for more than six years and helped build one of the most successful captive insurance agencies in the country from the ground floor. Tipton is also very involved in the community and volunteers hundreds of hours each year. He is currently the 2014 Chair-Elect for Tulsa’s Young Professionals. He is also an Eagle Scout.

The Scott McCoy Insurance Agency holds memberships with the Oklahoma Agents Alliance, the Strategic Insurance Agency Alliance and the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce. The Agency is also recognized as certified for both the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and the Cherokee Nation.

McCoy adds, “We are not just building an insurance agency, we are building an experience founded on delivering a promise. I want this culture to extend not only to our clients but our employees and community as well.”
