SeekingSitters Listed as Entrepreneur Mag. Top 500

SeekingSitters began like many successful businesses: a young mom saw a problem and created a solution that turned into a business. Adrienne Kallweit was working as a private investigator and needed a babysitter for her children.
She struggled to find safe, reliable childcare. She soon discovered other parents faced the same dilemma and developed a solution for the problem. That’s how SeekingSitters began six years ago. Today, the company is being honored as one of the top 500 franchises in America, according to Entrepreneur Magazine.
As a mother and a licensed private investigator, Kallweit understood parents’ need for safe sitters and created SeekingSitters in 2004 in Tulsa. She combined her role as a mother with her private investigator license to create a nationwide phenomenon that, even in the midst of a recession, continues to boom.
The company is a full service babysitting referral company that does all of the work for parents: finds and screens sitters, provides in-depth background screenings with in-house private investigators, schedules all sitters for member family requests and supervises all payments through an online system. SeekingSitters began franchising in 2006 and currently has 55 locations in 23 states.
Now, Seeking Sitters has been named by Entrepreneur Magazine as one of the top 500 franchises in America.
Among the top low-cost franchises, Seeking Sitters ranks number 66 out of 500.
Among the top new businesses, they rank within the top 20 at number 19.
“SeekingSitters was developed out of a need that exists with parents across the nation and our franchise system provides business minded moms and dads the ability to offer this solution in their own area while realizing the rewards of business ownership,” adds Kallweit.
SeekingSitters is actively pursuing franchisees in all 50 states. All franchises have local owners who are parents themselves.
SeekingSitters was named to Inc. Magazine’s list of 500 fastest growing private companies in 2010. The company was also the winner of Tulsa’s First Annual Entrepreneurial Spirit Award in November 2007 and was named one of the “25 Best Women-Owned Businesses” by Working Mother Magazine in 2008. SeekingSitters has been featured on Fox & Friends, and Headline News, Early Show, in Entrepreneur Magazine and on the Show “The Big Idea with Donny Deutsch.”
