Shock Partners with County


The Tulsa Shock will partner with the Tulsa County Parks Department and Park Friends, Inc. to raise funds for the LaFortune Park Tennis Center on Sept. 8 at 7 p.m. when the Seattle Storm visit the Center. Proceeds from the Shock game will go towards improvements at the Tennis Center, located at 51st Street and Hudson Avenue. The event is sponsored by the United States Tennis Association ().

“We as a sports organization are always seeking new opportunities to promote physical fitness and are proud of our partnership with the Tulsa County Parks Department,” President Steve Swetoha says. “The parks system in this county does a fantastic job promoting fitness in this community, and we are excited to be involved in their fundraising efforts.”

The Shock will be selling a $25 adult and a $15 child package that will include a game ticket, access to a pre-game reception with food and drinks; $5 of each ticket which will be donated back to the LaFortune Park Tennis Center Project. The project aims to build the first public indoor courts in Tulsa and replace the existing pro shop.

About the Tulsa Shock
The Tulsa Shock is a member club of the Women’s National Basketball Association (). The league began its 16th season this summer with 12 teams. The Shock is in the Western Conference along with the Seattle Storm, Los Angeles Sparks, Phoenix Mercury, San Antonio Silver Stars and Minnesota Lynx (the defending champions). The Eastern conference consists of the Atlanta Dream, Indiana Fever, Washington Mystics, New York Liberty, Chicago Sky and Connecticut Sun.
