Shock Trims Two from Training Camp Roster
TULSA, Okla. (May 5, 2010) – In preparation for incoming veterans, the Tulsa Shock trimmed 2010 third round draft pick, Vivian Frieson and tryout invitee, Juanita Ward, from the 15-player training camp roster, today.
Frieson, a 6-0 forward from Seattle, averaged 12.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.4 steals on 52.8 percent shooting from the field as a senior at Gonzaga, was picked 31st overall in the draft by the Shock.
Ward, a senior at the University of Syracuse, paid her own way onto the team through the open tryout on April 21st and has been a productive participant in training camp since.
Veterans, Iciss Tillis and Ivory Latta are expected to arrive in training camp later on this week to take Frieson and Ward’s spots on the roster, once again, raising the number of players in training camp to 15.
The Shock roster needs to eventually be trimmed to 11 players by opening night against the Minnesota Lynx on May 15.
