Shop With a Cop Benefits Children, Families

HELPING OTHERS: Rotarians and Tulsa police work together to help children and their families enjoy a brighter Christmas through the Shop With a Cop program, held this year at the Walmart at Memorial Drive and Second Street. Rotarians in the photo are Del Dreyer, Rhonda Renz and John Rains.
The Rotary Club of Tulsa recently held its yearly Shop with a Cop event.
Each year, more than 30 kids from Celia Clinton Elementary, the club’s Partners In Education school, are paired with Rotarians and police officers to go shopping.
The event is funded by the Tulsa Fraternal Order of Police and the Rotary Club of Tulsa, with the goal of creating relationships between children and police.
Children learn to view police officers as real people and ones they can go to for help and receive Christmas gifts for themselves and their families.
