Singh Extends OU Hammer Throw Record


USTIN, Texas. — One week after breaking the OU record in the hammer throw, K.P. Singh extended his record mark Thursday at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin. While Singh was extending his mark in the throws ring, Eric Bailey qualified for the finals of the 400-meter hurdles with the fourth-fastest time of the event’s prelims.

Singh finished fifth overall in the event with a throw 210-9 (64.23). Singh’s throw Thursday extended his distance last week by over feet as the junior finished second overall in the Bobby Lane Invitational with a throw of 202-4 (61.67).

Bailey advanced to Saturday’s finals in the 400-meter hurdles as he clocked the fourth-fastest time in the prelims, a performance of 53.13.

While not qualifying for the finals, Zach Dawson recorded a season-best time in the 400-meter hurdles as he finished 11th overall with a time of 53.13.

Oklahoma action at the event resumes Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. with the prelims of the men’s 4×100-meter relay.
