Smith Gets C-USA Honor
University of Tulsa senior quarterback Paul Smith was named the Conference USA Offensive Player of the Week after the BYU game.
Smith, from Owasso, led Tulsa to a 55-47 victory over BYU by completing 21-of-35 passes for a career-best 454 yards and a career-high five touchdowns.
After throwing an interception on Tulsa’s third possession, Smith threw four consecutive TDs, covering 43, 17, 75 and 18 yards. By halftime, Smith had completed 12 passes for 302 yards and four TDs. In just the first half alone, he was just six yards shy of his career-high passing game.
On the year, Smith has completed 65-percent of his passes for 761 yards and 8 TDs, to just 2 interceptions for a pass efficiency of 195.95 while leading Tulsa to a 2-0 record.
