Sniper Beauregard Returns To Oilers
TULSA, Okla. – The Tulsa Oilers have signed David Alexandre Beauregard, who has twice led the Oilers in goals, for the final stretch run of the Central Hockey League season.
“You can never have enough goal scoring and David has proven he is a special goal scorer in this league,” Oilers coach Bruce Ramsay said. “I know he really liked it here in Tulsa and he’s obviously a fan favorite. Anyone who scores like he can, has to be. It’ll be great to see him playing at the BOK Center.”
Beauregard, 6-0, 190 pounds, played for the Oilers in 2006-07 and 2007-08. He led the club each year in goals with 39 in 06-07 and 35 in 07-08 has been playing Europe the last season and a half. Last year for Manchester in Great Britain he had 44 goals and 35 assists for 79 points in only 54 games.
He scored his 400th professional goal while playing for the Oilers in a 5-4 win over the Rocky Mountain Rage on March 10, 2007. Beauregard was the CHL Rookie of the year in 1997-98. He was the 11th round draft choice, 271st overall of the San Jose Sharks in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft.
While the Oilers add Beauregard to their roster, they have placed defenseman Tyler Fleck on season ending injured reserve. He is expected to undergo surgery for an upper body injury
“What an absolute warrior Tyler Fleck is. I marvel at how he went out there and threw his body around and blocked shots and did everything we asked and everything he could,” Ramsay said. “He’ll still be around to help us out. I can see why he is so respected in this league.
The Oilers play at Missouri Thursday and at Bossier-Shreveport Friday with both games starting at 7:05 p.m. They return home Sunday to take on Bossier-Shreveport at 4:05 p.m. That will be the second part of a hockey doubleheader.
