Softball Continue Winning Ways


NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma softball team continued its winning ways, downing Seminole State 9-1 Thursday evening at the OU Softball Complex.

Oklahoma’s pitching staff combined for 14 strikeouts. All four pitchers saw action and Kirsten Allen allowed Seminole State’s only run.

Keilani Ricketts reached on a single in the bottom of the second. OU then scored its first run on Javen Henson’s triple. Henson then scored on a Destinee Martinez single to push the Sooners out to a 2-0 lead.

Chana’e Jones plated a double in the fifth and was brought home by Brittany Williams. Adriana Asano scored the Trojans’ only run in the top of the seventh.

OU rolled after that with Haley McGregor, Cierra Hughes, Ali Vandever, Jones and Jessica Shults all scoring runs. Dani Dobbs ended the game with a solo home run.

The Sooners close out the fall slate next Friday, Oct. 15, against the National Pro Fastpitch All-Stars. The exhibition contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. CT.
