Sooners’ Finch Out With Stress Fracture
NORMAN, Okla. – Roy Finch, Oklahoma’s freshman running back, will miss the upcoming Fiesta Bowl due to a recurrence of a stress fracture injury in his left foot suffered during Friday’s practice.
Team physicians performed surgery Saturday to insert two pins.
OU Head Coach Bob Stoops said Finch will be sidelined for 6-7 weeks, but is expected back in time for the team’s spring workouts.
Friday’s injury occurred in a non-contact drill.
Finch missed the first five games of the season with a similar injury.
In eight games, Finch rushed 85 times for 398 yards and two touchdowns. He also caught 10 passes for 49 yards.
Finch’s absence will mean more playing time for senior Mossis Madu and freshman Brennan Clay.
Madu had 58 carries for 251 yards and one touchdown. He also had 11 receptions for 66 yards. Clay had 36 rushes for 130 yards and three receptions for 13.
