Sooners Seeking 18th Conference Championship

NORMAN, Okla. — The 2010 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship will be hosted by Oklahoma at the Howard McCasland Field House in Norman on April 3 at 7 p.m.

This year’s conference race looks to be strong once again for the second-ranked Sooners with No. 1 Stanford, No. 8 California, No. 10 Nebraska, and No. 12 Air Force all looking to deny OU’s chances to win its 18 conference championship.

Oklahoma will be seeking its 10th conference title out of the last 12 years as it won the last conference title in Norman in 2005. The Sooners have also tallied 30 individual MPSF conference championships under Williams.

In 2009, the Sooners finished second at the MPSF Championship at Stanford and claimed one team event title (vault), while junior Steven Legendre finished first on vault. Oklahoma won four consecutive conference titles from 2008-2005 and eight of the last 10.

OU recently won at Penn State University finishing the regular season with an 11-1 mark with eight victories against top-10 opponents. The Sooners claimed every all-around title in the regular season with Legendre (3), Dalton (3), Alex Naddour (1) and Ian Jackson (1) all winning titles.
