Sooners to Tee it Up at Ole Miss Intercollegiate


NORMAN, Okla. – The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team will compete April 2-4 at the 54-hole Rebel Intercollegiate, hosted by the University of Mississippi. Twenty teams will play 18 holes each day of the tournament at the 6,351-yard, par-72 Ole Miss Golf Course in Oxford, Miss.

The tournament field also features Texas A&M (ranked No. 18 by Golfweek), Tulane (No. 27), Arkansas-Little Rock, Augusta State, Coastal Carolina, East Tennessee State, Illinois State, Kansas, Kennesaw State, Middle Tennessee State, Mississippi State, Missouri, Murray State, Princeton, , Southern Mississippi, South Florida and Wisconsin.

Leading the OU lineup in Oxford will be junior Ellen Mueller (Evansville, Ind.). At last week’s Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, Mueller inked her ninth top-20 finish of the season (16th of her career) by way of her three-round 225 (+9). She has led the Sooners in eight of their nine tournaments this year.

Playing in the second spot for the Sooners will be Andrea Sellmeyer (McAlester, Okla.). This will mark Sellmeyer’s seventh tournament of the season. The senior is coming off a successful March that saw her make a 13th-place showing at the Challenge and a career-best 10th-place finish at the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate.

Freshman Taylor Schmidt (Kincardine, Ontario) will compete in the third spot this week for the Sooners while classmate Aly Seng (Enid, Okla.) and senior Ryanne Elmer (Edmond, Okla.) will play in the No. 4 and 5 spots, respectively. The Rebel Intercollegiate will be Elmer’s third event of the year.

Tee times for the Rebel Intercollegiate are set for 8 a.m. CT on Friday and Saturday and 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Live scoring will be available at www.golfstat.com.
