Rooster Days, the oldest festival in Oklahoma, was highlighted this year with the naming of Sophie Arroyo as Miss Rooster Days. She succeeds last year’s Miss Rooster Days, Riley Savala.
The Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce reports that Miss Rooster Days is a very busy woman during her one-year reign. She is responsible for attending ribbon cuttings, groundbreakings and grand opening ceremonies as an honorary member of the Broken Arrow Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Club. She is rewarded for her year as an Ambassador with a $4,000 scholarship for the college of her choice at the end of her reign.
Visitors to this year’s Rooster Days experienced live entertainment, the Rooster Days Parade, carnival food, the wine garden, carnival rides and the ever-expanding Rose District Market Place. The event, in its 87th year, is a local tradition that highlights each spring during the month of May.
