‘Step Up To Success’ Fashion Show Coming

DRESS FOR SUCCESS CHAIRS: Linda Kinney, Pat Simmons, Linda Baker and Nancy Weber, event chairs and board members, are preparing for the Aug. 12 Fashion and Art Show that will benefit Dress for Success Tulsa.


Dress for Success, a non-profit organization that helps suit low-income women so they can make a tailored transition into the workforce is holding their Annual Fashion and Art Show, “Step Up To Success”, at 7 p.m., Aug. 12 at Thomas Hall, First United Methodist Church, 1115 South Boulder, Tulsa. Clothing will be provided by Chico’s of Utica Square, Coldwater Creek, and Talbots at Utica Square.

Karen Larsen from KJRH/Channel 2 will serve as emcee for the evening. Modeling some of the latest fashions will be Tulsa business women Vicki Adams of RelationsInc, Linda Bradshaw of Tulsa World of Gymnastics, Marti Alexander from World Travel Service, Maureen Gribben from The Home Collection, Debbi Boyne, Owner of Meeting Demands Event Management, Penny Painter, Executive Director of Resonance, Marilyn Ihloff, owner of Ihloff Salon and Day Spa, Sharron Woodmansee, Owner of Curves For Women, Sand Springs, Alta Dalton, owner of Dalton Mortgage, and Phyllis Scroggs from Consumer Contact Company. Tulsa media personalities Teri Bowers of KTUL/Channel 8 and Omadelle Nelson from KJRH/Channel 2 will also be modeling fashions. Chairing the event are Dress for Success Board Members Linda Baker, Linda Kinney, Pat Simmons, and Nancy Weber.

A live auction will be held featuring a weekend getaway to Chicago for two with airfare donated by Simmons Homes and hotel accommodations. Other auction items include a private plane ride to lunch at a restaurant in Ponca City, a spa package for four at Woodhouse Day Spa, a diamond watch from Moody’s Jewelry and a $500 Bobbi Brown gift basket. A silent auction featuring an Ihloff Salon massage and hairstyle, membership to MeadowBrook Country Club, Curves for Women membership, Progressive Pilates Health and Fitness classes, a savings bond donated by Spirit Bank, golf packages, hotel packages, local restaurants, jewelry, and many other items. Also included will be hand painted and/or decorated high-heeled shoes that have been turned into artwork by Alternative Outside Artists and other local artists. Pieces of their artwork will be on display and available for purchase.

Just Catering by Orr, TiAmo’s, Bodean’s, The Olive Garden, Lambrusco’z, Camarelli’s, The Cheesecake Lady, and the Atlas Café will furnish hors d’oeuvres. Table decorations using high-heeled shoes with flowers are being donated by Floral Designs, Tony’s Flowers and Gifts, Art In Bloom, Mrs. Dehaven’s Flower Shop, Talmadge Powell Concepts, Flower Fashions, Visions Floral and Art, and Ted and Debbie’s Flower and Garden.

Reserved Elite Runway tables for 8 are available for $500 and reserved Vogue tables of 8 for $300. Individual tickets are $25 per person, which is how much it costs to suit one Dress for Success client. Call 744-7417 for ticket purchases.

They accept donated business clothing, with a particular need for plus sizes (12 and larger). Every suit that is donated is given directly to a woman interviewing for a job. Dress for Success Tulsa relies on the financial contributions, in-kind donations and volunteer efforts of individuals and companies in the Tulsa area who are committed to helping women take charge of their lives.
