Stone Canyon Expanding

BRIGHT FUTURE: The community of Stone Canyon continues to fulfill its master plan. New homes, shopping, dining, and continued entertainment are in the works.

Tucked away in Owasso, the Stone Canyon community brings together family, beautiful natural surroundings and a high quality of life. Of the more than 3,200 acres of the development, 650 have been reserved for nature, recreation and neighborhoods.

Homes are situated on half to whole acres lots surrounded by various landscapes, such as upper prairie, woodlands, canyons and meadows, says General Manager Sharon Baker. The non-gated neighborhoods are connected by trails and within walking distance to Stone Canyon Elementary. Large wooded home sites within The Bluffs surround Patriot Golf Course and offer privacy and seclusion.

Since opening in 2008, Stone Canyon has grown to more than 200 homes and 500 residents.

The community’s final plans include a total of 20 neighborhoods. The next neighborhood to take shape will be located on the south side of the lake, opposite of the town center to the north. The center will break ground soon and house offices, shops and restaurants that overlook the water.

This year will bring a few new creations for the natural areas of Stone Canyon. A butterfly garden will hold plants and flowers to bring in all varieties of the winged creatures for everyone to observe and enjoy. A labyrinth will be added for families to enjoy, and the lake will soon have a fishing pier.

Throughout the summer, Stone Canyon holds weekly concerts beside the lake. A large wooden pergola provides a spot for a variety of bands to set up, and on concert nights the grass ends up filled with blankets and chairs.

On June 27, Bad Neighbour will play with Mid Life Crisis on July 3 followed by a fireworks show.
