String Quartet Concludes Chamber Music


Chamber Music Tulsa is concluding its 2004-05 season with “the finest quartet based in New York,” the American String Quartet. The public concert is scheduled for Sunday, May 15 at 3 p.m. in the PAC’s John H. Williams Theatre.

The American string quartet has performed since 1974. Now more than 25 years later, the Quartet continues to win critical acclaim for its presentations of the complete quartets of Beethoven, Schubert, Schoenberg, Bartok, and Mozart.

Resident quartet at the Aspen Music Festival since 1974 and the Manhattan School of Music in New York since 1984, the American String Quartet has also served as resident quartet at the Taos School of Music, the Peabody Conservatory and the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition.
