Supersized: Bigger and Better

In the days of supersized meals and oversized SUV’s it’s no wonder the time would come when bigger is better would make its way into the fashion industry. We started to see this trend coming into effect last summer with the emergence of gigantic sunglasses and enormous handbags.
This spring we will take it a step further and see the biggest and boldest accessories anyone has seen in years. Instead of the shapeless handbags of last season, we will see more structure in looks from Fendi like the “B” handbag or Chloe’s “Edith” bag. Not only will these bags have more shape, but they will also be heavy on the detailing, color and texture. Large buckles, cross-stitching and brass hardware adorn these new bags with shiny textures like patent leather in bright and bold colors such as royal blue and sunny yellow.
Spring’s “must have” accessories will not only be in the bag but in the shoes, jewelry and belts as well. The hot new shoe for the season is the “sol” sandal by Michael Kors. This high-heel huarache at $465 has a wait list, but don’t worry, what’s hot always gets knocked off. You’ll be sure to be able to pick up a pair for a fraction of the cost. This shoe looks great worn with a flowing spring floral dress or the new pantsuit of the season.
This pantsuit packs a punch in itself. With drainpipe-tight cropped-at-the-ankle pants and a structured shrunken blazer, it will have you walking the straight and narrow this season.
If you feel better in the middle, accentuate it with a broad waist-cincher belt. Pair with a feminine piece like lace or silk and tie one on. The bigger the buckle the better; add some shine with patent leather.
If you’re in the mood to rock, try some long and layered chains oversized and substantial enough to make a statement while adding allure to a softly draped neckline.
However lavish you decide to get with fashion this season, the look is sure to be more glamorous and grown-up than in seasons past.
So go with the flow or go with the structure or mix them up but whichever way you go, supersize your style!
