Talbert Highlights Action at John McDonnell Invitational

Rachel Talbert (Newton, Kan.) highlighted the weekend of play with two events wins. Talbert claimed the top spot in the shot put with a mark of 14.72 meters, while earning the win in the discus with a throw of 51.39 meters.Sophomore Sheilah Ndasym (Eldoret, Kenya) posted the only other win on the women’s side, clocking a time of 17:10.23 in the 5000-meter run, while Cassidy Ashcraft (Seminole, Okla.) placed third in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:19.24.
The women’s 4×100-meter relay team of Whitney Mills(Tulsa, Okla.), Miesha Dinkins (Jenks, Okla.), Latisha Jacobs (Oklahoma City, Okla.) and Cornesha Wilkerson (Tulsa, Okla.) posted a third-place showing with a time of 46.49.
On the men’s side, Fredrick Brown claimed the top spot in the triple jump with a mark of 15.18 meters, which currently ranks 38th nationally.
In the main 400-meter dash event, Jeffery Gibson (Freeport, Bahamas) clocked the nation’s 25th-best time of 46.84 to place second, while Marvin Bonde (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) posted a third-place finish in the main 200-meter dash event with a time of 21.62.
Jeramy Roberts (Houston, Texas) earned a win in the 400-meter dash (48.96), while Michael Roberts (Fitzhugh, Okla.) also posted a win in the 800-meter dash (1:55.77).
Freshman Jack Whitt (Norman, Okla.) continued his strong freshman season, soaring to a height of 5.30 meters for a second-place showing in the pole vault.
The men’s 4×400-meter relay team of Jeramy Roberts, Bonde, Clive Chafausipo (Harare, Zimbabwe) and Gibson also earned a first-place finish, clocking a time of 3:09.98.
The Golden Eagles return to action at the KU Relays in Lawrence, Kan., beginning on Wednesday.
