Football is king in Oklahoma. The Tulsa Talons are proud to add to the state’s great tradition with the 2007 ArenaCup championship. The Talons won 73-66 over the tough Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, La. August 25. It is the second ArenaCup championship in Talons history.

The American Conference Champion Pioneers came in with a 17-2 record, the same as the Talons, who won the National Conference.
Paul Ross, my co-owner, and I thank our coaches, players, fans, the media, advertisers and everybody who have helped us make this franchise so successful.

We congratulate our head coach, Mitch Allner, who becomes the first man in af2 history to celebrate with the ArenaCup as a player and as a head coach. Allner was a member of the 2003 Tulsa squad that defeated Macon, 58-40 in ArenaCup4. As a player, offensive coordinator and head coach, Allner has been a part of 85 Talons’ victories throughout the team’s eight-year history.

We also salute wide receiver Jeff Hughley who accounted for four touchdowns and set two ArenaCup records, defensive back Delenell Reid, quarterback Justin Allgod and kicker Luke Phillips along with the rest of the team, who all played a great game.

We wish all the area teams much success during this year’s football season!
