Excitement like this, the crowd, the fans, the quick-moving and fast-paced entertainment can only be found in one place, The BOK Center when the Tulsa Talons take the field. The arena football team is averaging double-digit scores and annihilating their competition.
The Talons are making their way through the Arena Football Two Central Division in first place ahead of the Oklahoma City Yard Dogs and the Amarillo Dusters. At press time, Amarillo is still winless.
The big story around this team has been their very productive offense, but as Oklahoma City recently found out, the Talon defense is the real deal.
With players like LaRico Stevenson, Terrance Carter and Carlos Campbell, the Talons defense is borderline impenetrable. Against Oklahoma City, the Talons caused four fumbles, an interception, two sacks and blocked five passes. The two sacks sent the Yard Dawgs reeling backwards 15 yards.
On the season, the Talons have 14 sacks for 95 yards lost. They have caused 14 fumbles and returned them for 40 yards. The Talons have broken up 29 passes and caught 14 interceptions and returned them for 168 yards. This agile defense has held opponents to 316 points while the Talon offense racked up 455.
The Talons offense is still hot, by the way. Jeff Hughley leads the team in all-purpose yards with 1,737 and in touchdowns with 23. Zac Edwards is close behind with 22 touchdowns. Justin Allgood remains to be a remarkable quarterback. He has over 2,000 passing yards and has thrown for over 50 touchdowns. The Talons have only fumbled the ball seven times compared to twice that for their competition.
The Talons are midway through the regular season with a handful of games remaining but have only four home games left in Tulsa. They return to the BOK Center June 6 for a two-game home stand.
