GOLDEN EAGLE CELEBRATION: I had the honor of representing Chrysler as the title sponsor of the Mid-Con Basketball Championships held in March at the Union John Q. Hammons Arena. ORU greats Ken Tutt and Caleb Green were all smiles as they held their trophy!

The Tulsa Talons will open the season at home Saturday, March 31 against the Everett Hawks, and we are excited to get the season underway with former Union High and University of Tulsa quarterback Josh Blankenship leading the team.
Head coach Mitch Allner says that Blankenship and Justin Allgood are very capable and knowledgeable quarterbacks, though Blankenship’s two years of af2 starting experience give him a decided edge.
Blankenship passed for 3,554 yards and 89 touchdowns as a Talons rookie in 2005 and threw for 4,052 yards and 82 touchdowns for the Stockton (Calif.) Lightning last season. He has completed 59.9 percent of his passes (597-of-996).
Come and cheer on the Talons in the opener and enter for a chance to win a brand new Dodge! Tickets are on sale now. Call 294-1000 for ticket information.
Honoring Eddie Sutton
On Monday, April 23, the Tulsa Sports Commission will honor Eddie Sutton as Tulsa’s Sportsman of the Year at the 2007 Bill Connors Sports Dinner.
Coach Sutton ranks fifth among all-time collegiate coaches with 798 victories. Under his guidance, OSU played in the post season 15 of 16 years, including 13 NCAA appearances.
The event takes place at 6:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Tulsa Hotel and includes a reception, dinner, brief video tributes and comments from Sutton and community leaders.
The Bill Connors Sports Dinner began as a casual roast in 2001 and has developed into one of the premier events in the community. The dinner is named after the late Tulsa World sportswriter Bill Connors. Each year the TSC presents a Sportsman of the Year award. Past Sportsman of the Year honorees include Glenn Dobbs, Mike Case and Keith Bailey.
Please join us in congratulating Eddie Sutton, 2007 Sportsman of the Year. For ticket information, please call Jon Eric Mueller at (918) 560-0246.
