Tiffany Jones (Formerly Jackson) Expecting Her First Child This Winter
Tiffany Jones (Formerly Jackson) will miss the entire 2012 season as she and her husband are expecting their first child this winter.
“It is a very exciting time for my family and I as we prepare for the birth of our first child,” Jones said. “I’m extremely sad that I won’t be joining my team on the court this season but I hope to attend many games in Tulsa to support my new and old teammates. I will be cheering them on from a distance and look forward to them having a great 2012 season.”
Jones was the Shock’s leader both on and off the court last season as she led the team in points (12.4), rebounds (8.4) and minutes (33.9) while recording 11 double-doubles last season which ranked her third in the league.
“We are extremely happy for Tiffany and look forward to having a new member join the Shock family this winter,” Shock President Steve Swetoha said. “We wish her good health this year and look forward to seeing her back in a Shock uniform in 2013.”
Jackson started 32 of 34 games for the Shock and led the team in scoring 10 times, rebounds 21 times and assists five times. She also finished the season as one of only 12 players in the league who made more than 100 free-throws. She finished second in the league’s most improved player award voting.
“Obviously we are going to miss her rebounding, energy and veteran leadership but we drafted a couple young forwards that can contribute in the front court.” Head Coach Gary Kloppenburg said “We are excited for Tiffany and look forward to having her return next season.”
