Tom Pagnozzi Named as Diamond Dinner Guest Speaker


TULSA—Former St. Louis Cardinals catcher Tom Pagnozzi will serve as the featured speaker at the 2011 Diamond Dinner, Friday, January 21 at the Tulsa Marriott Southern Hills.

Former big leaguer pitcher and Tulsa resident George Frazier will serve as emcee for the 10th consecutive year. The evening will begin with a free autograph session and silent auction for dinner ticket holders at 6 p.m., to be followed by a reception at 6:30 p.m. The dinner and live auction begins at 7 p.m.

Pagnozzi spent 12 seasons in the Major Leagues (1987-98), all with St. Louis. A National League All-Star in 1992, Pagnozzi batted .253 in 927 career games. He helped lead the Cardinals to the 1987 NL pennant. St. Louis lost the World Series in seven games to Minnesota.

The Diamond Dinner serves as the kick off to ORU’s baseball season, which opens February 18th when the Golden Eagles visit Baylor for a three-game series. has made 13 straight Regional appearances. The Golden Eagles are the 13-time defending Summit League champions.

Rob Walton begins his eighth season as head coach of the Golden Eagles. The four-time Summit League Coach of the Year skippered Baseball’s National Team to an undefeated summer tour in 2008, and he will again serve on the Team staff during the summer of 2011.
