Toni Young Named Big 12 Player of the Week
IRVING, Texas — Oklahoma State’s Toni Young was named the Big 12 Women’s Basketball Player of the Week by a media voting panel for games played from Dec. 21-26. The honor was the first league honor of the sophomore’s career.
Young shared the distinction with Teena Wickett of Texas Tech.
The 6-2 forward helped the Cowgirls bounce back from their first loss of the season with a 77-48 win over Oral Roberts on Dec. 22. She had her fifth double-double of the year with 25 points and 10 rebounds. The point total matched her career high while she had her fifth double-figure rebounding game of the season.
Young also logged a career high with five steals and had two assists and two blocks in 25 minutes. She went 12-of-19 from the field for a .630 shooting percentage.
