Sometimes it’s hard to keep up with all the emerging trends from season to season, especially when fashions stay at least a season if not two ahead. Stock in retail stores is already going into transitional and fall fashions, so what do you wear now?
Here are five ways to look cool in the final heat of summer.
Trend 1: Who Wears Short Shorts?
Whether you are supermodel tall or a petite PYT, short shorts make a bold summer statement. Break out those disposable razors, make a pedicure appointment and show off those gams! Shorts can be dressed up with platform wedges for that hot midsummer night date or made cute and cool with glam crystal and metallic sandals and a great form-fitting tank. Try them in colored denims like bright blue or yellow.
Trend 2: Longing for Dresses
The easiest way to stay cool is in a dress. This summer take your dress to the floor. Hemlines have plummeted and this season’s hottest dresses are floor length. Bask in the sun as you sport long flowing dresses in floral, polka dot, stripe and mod print.
Sunglasses are more colorful and in more styles than ever before. They all have one thing in common: Hollywood. Live out your tabloid fantasy like the paparazzi are following you with this classic diva accessory. Look for large frames in lucite, 1980s neon or aviator metals. Play with color or stick with staple shades like black, white or tortoise.
Trend 4: Flatiador Ready?
Fantastic flats make feet happy this season. Stand out in sandals with metal, flower and crystal detailing. Wear in a low-heel thong, flip-flop or gladiator style for a high-impact style punch.
Trend 5: Get a Leg Up on Summer
Leggings make a real come back in cool fabrics and hot colors. Look for this trend to go straight into fall and winter of 2008 and turn into tights of neon worn with open peep toe mary janes or short booties. Scrunch up at the knee for a leaner look, wear under dresses or tunics and with wedges, adorned sandals or heels in wood, paten or cork.
Try these five trends now and look hot while staying cool as this summer comes to a close. Don’t forget to pile on the accessories. Gigantic gold jewelry, dangling silver necklaces, cuffs or bangles are a must.
Top off with a patent tote or raffia clutch and stay true to the season, fashion and yourself.
