Touchdown Club of Columbus Recognizes Tulsa’s G.J. Kinne

Columbus, Ohio –– University of Tulsa senior-to-be Quarterback G.J. Kinne will be recognized on Saturday at the 56th Annual Touchdown Club of Columbus Banquet. Kinne along with 10 other college players has been picked as a player to watch for the 2011 season and will receive an Award of Distinction on Saturday night.

The other 11 players include: Boise State running back Doug Martin, Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray, Colorado running back Rodney Stewart, Ohio State safety Tyler Moeller, Toledo receiver Eric Page, running back Zach Line, Virginia Tech cornerback Jayron Hosley, Troy quarterback Corey Robinson, Washington running back Chris Polk and Ohio State defensive tackle John Simon.

The Touchdown Club of Columbus also honors its award winners from the 2010 season. The last Tulsa player to be recognized with an award from the TD Club of Columbus was Golden Hurricane Jerry Rhome in the early 1960’s.

In 2010, Kinne helped lead the Golden Hurricane to a 10-3 record, a victory in the Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl and a final Associated Press poll ranking of 24th nationally. He became the fifth Tulsa quarterback to pass for 30+ TDs in a season, as he completed 60 percent of his passes for 3,650 yards and 31 TDs on the season. Kinne was named the C- Offensive Player of the Year and earned first-team all-C- honors as well as all-Academic team accolades.

In two seasons as Tulsa’s starting quarterback, Kinne has 6,382 career passing yards and 53 touchdowns to rank third on both the school’s career passing list and touchdown passes chart. He also ranks third for career total offensive yards with 7,336 yards in 25 career games.
