Track and Field Set to Host Sooner Open

NORMAN, Okla. — The University of Oklahoma Track and Field program hosts its third and final home meet of the season this weekend as athletes descend on the John Jacobs Track and Field Complex for the Sooner Open. Action is slated to kick off Friday at 4 p.m. with the men’s and women’s hammer throw. Saturday’s schedule is slated to begin with field events at 10 a.m. followed by running events at 1 p.m. Admission to the event is free.

The meet is the third and final home meet that OU hosts in the 2010 season and falls on the last weekend of regular season action as OU heads to the Big 12 Championships next weekend in Columbia, Mo.

Three OU athletes will be looking to defend 2009 titles in the event. Luke Bryant captured the discus title last year while D’Andre Fisher won the 110-meter hurdles and Latoya Heath won the 100-meter hurdles.

Live results for the event will be provided by Delta Timing and available on SoonerSports.com.
