Trukshanin Named Summit League Men’s Tennis Player of the Week

ELMHURST, Ill. – Mikhail Trukshanin was named the Summit League Men’s Tennis Player of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Trukshanin earned the honors after going a combined 6-0 over the weekend to lead the Golden Eagles to a 2-1 record to kick off Summit League play. Trukshanin posted straight-set victories in all three singles matches, outscoring his opponents by a 36-10 margin.

The sophomore from Minsk, Belarus, triumphed at the No. 2 singles position against IUPUI and Centenary, while scoring a victory at the top spot against Western Illinois. Trukshanin also won all three matches in doubles play with partner Igor Sobolta, as the duo improved to 6-1 this season.

The award is the first for Trukshanin and the third for the men’s tennis team this season, as Igor Sobolta and Dmitry Suslov have also earned the honors.
