TU Athletics Initiates ‘Tulsa Plays!’ Summer Program
The University of Tulsa athletic department has initiated the “Tulsa Plays!” program for the upcoming summer. The Tulsa Plays! initiative is a community program designed to encourage kids to play and live a healthy and active lifestyle.
TU Athletics is partnering with Channel 8, Tulsa World and Scripps Radio to host three free and open to the public events where kids will participate in sports activities with TU student-athletes.
Tulsa Plays! is open to all kids 12 and under. All children will need to have a waiver signed by a legal guardian or parent to participate.
Kids can participate in running and agility drills, soccer dribbling, passing, and shooting, football passing and catching, volleyball bumping and setting, basketball dribbling and shooting, and softball hitting. There will also be a station where kids can dress like a TU player and receive TU face tattoos.
The 2016 summer dates of Tulsa Plays! are:
• Thursday, June 2 – 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Veterans Park (1875 S. Boulder Ave.)._
• Thursday, July 7 – 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Gardens at LaFortune Park (5202 S. Hudson Ave., take entrance on 51st between Sheridan & Yale).
• Thursday, July 21 – 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. – Hunter Park (5804 E. 91st St.).
Each participant will receive an activity card that they can take to each activity station. At each station they will receive a sticker of completion. At the end of the day, kids can redeem their activity card for a Tulsa Plays! gift pack.
