TU Basketball to Host 5th Annual Hoops for Hunger Jan. 29


Tulsa, Oklahoma –– The 5th Annual Hurricane Hoops for Hunger Food and Fund Drive is set for Saturday, January 29th at the TU- men’s basketball game scheduled for 7 pm at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Fans are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items or make a financial contribution at the gate to benefit the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

Most needed items are canned meats (tuna, chicken, etc.) canned or packaged fruit, canned or boxed meals, soup and stew, peanut butter, pasta and sauce, rice, breakfast cereals, baby cereal and formula and 100% fruit juice.

Every $1 received allows the Food Bank to distribute enough food for seven meals

Lael Wojcik, wife of TU men’s basketball coach Doug Wojcik, has hosted this successful event for the last four years. On this night, all fans are encouraged to help support the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma with their mission to help alleviate hunger. Last year, the Food Bank distributed more than 13.5 million pounds of Food.

In addition, at halftime of the game, Team Acrodunk will put on a high-flying acrobatic slam dunk routine for all those in attendance.
