Tulsa International Airport Joins Social Media

Tulsa International Airport () has joined the ranks of millions using social media with the launch of our Facebook page. People interested in traveling or just generally interested in the airport can search for Tulsa International Airport on Facebook and become a fan!

Six months ago began “tweeting” on Twitter and has chosen to build upon that outlet by adding Facebook. Facebook will become an additional way to reach out to airport users and share information about weather, fare sales, and what’s happening at the airport. By utilizing social media, the airport hopes to initiate dialogue with travelers about their wants, needs, and experiences when traveling through .

Several airports are already using Facebook and are experiencing great returns. Akron-Canton International Airport in Ohio has over 5,000 fans and recently partnered with an airline to provide a $20 coupon good for a future flight for all of their fans. Alexis Higgins, Deputy Airports Director of Marketing, hopes that Tulsa travelers will be as receptive to utilizing this new technology. Higgins said, “Facebook not only provides a venue for communicating airport news, it allows airport users to interact with each other and provide immediate feedback on their experiences.”

Once Tulsa International Airport hits 500 Facebook fans they will provide a coupon for parking on their Facebook page for all fans to print and use on their next trip when they park at Tulsa International Airport.
