Tulsa Keeps Busy Between Meetings and Practice
Honolulu, Hawai’i – After Tulsa’s second workout at Aloha Stadium on Tuesday morning, the Golden Hurricane had a busy day. Tulsa visited the Arizona Memorial and Pearl Harbor in the afternoon and attended the Royal Hawaiian Luau Tuesday night.
Tulsa Head Coach Todd Graham has been impressed with his teams focus during team meetings and practice.
“The trip is very difficult on our guys. On Monday their legs were a little tired and we were just trying to get adjusted, and I think they’re slowly getting adjusted,” said Graham. “We’ve had two really good practices. I’ve been pleased with how they’ve been able to turn things.
“You’re basically in paradise and it’s easy to be distracted and not be focused on the game and focused during meetings. We’ve had early morning meetings and been practicing for about two hours until 12:30. The guys have done a great job,” added Graham. “The preparation has been good. We have to work hard on getting them acclimated and their energy level where it needs to be to be able to run our high tempo game.”
With the number of events planned each day pacing and resting is something that the team is difficult.
“There are a number of events that the Bowl has planned. You’re not sitting still very long at all. I think it’s getting acclimated to the trip and getting their legs up underneath them. Tuesday was a lot better than Monday, and I think they’ll settle in and feel good on Wednesday,” said Graham.
The days events for Wednesday include 10 am practice, 1 pm Foods Luncheon at Dave & Busters, 5 pm team photo and the 6 pm Sheraton Hawai’i Bowl Banquet.
