Tulsa Men’s Tennis Preps For Huge Weekend Against Texas, California
TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men’s tennis team is set for a tough two-match set with two top-20 opponents coming to Case Tennis Center this weekend.
The Golden Hurricane will face No. 19-ranked California today at 6 p.m., and then the blue and gold will do battle with the No. 5-ranked Texas Longhorns Jan. 16 at noon.
Tulsa has three players ranked in the top 100 in the latest Campbell/ITA Rankings. Sophomore Marcelo Arevalo is ranked No. 44, junior Ashley Watling is No. 89 and sophomore Clifford Marsland is No. 96.
Watling and Marsland are the No. 22-ranked doubles team.
The Golden Bears have three ranked individuals, headlined by No. 50 Christoffer Konigsfeldt. Carlos Cueto is No. 59 and Riki McLachlan is No. 120.
The doubles tandem of Konigsfeldt and Nick Andrews are No. 13. Cueto and Jonathan Dahan are No. 17 and Dahan/Andrews are No. 40.
Texas has two individuals ranked in the top 100 and three doubles teams ranked in the top 25.
Vasko Mladenov is No. 78 and Ben Chen is No. 100. Ed Corrie and Jean Andersen are the No. 5-ranked doubles duo in the nation. Chen and Daniel Whitehead are No. 15 and Kellen Damico and David Holiner are ranked No. 25.
