Tulsa Posts 107-93 Win Over Toros


AUSTIN, Texas, Dec. 30, 2010 – Latavious Williams recorded 16 points and 11 rebounds, Robert Vaden scored a season-high 21 points and Cole Aldrich added six points, seven rebounds and two blocks to lead the Tulsa 66ers (9-6) to a 107-93 road win over the Austin Toros (7-7) Thursday evening.

Also scoring in double figures for Tulsa was Zabian Dowdell with 13, Ryan Reid with 12 and Larry Owens and Marcus Lewis each with 10. Reid and Lewis each finished with nine rebounds.

Defensively, Tulsa held Austin to 33-85 shooting (.388), including 6-22 (.273) from beyond the arc.

Tulsa outscored the Toros by a 56-34 margin in the paint and scored 22 fast break points compared to Austin’s nine.

Marcus Cousin picked up a double-double for the Toros with 21 points and 11 boards. Also in double-digit scoring for Austin was Thomas Gardner with 12 and Michael Joiner and Lance Thomas with 11 each.

In front of an announced crowd of over 6,200 fans inside Cedar Park Center, the 66ers stormed into halftime leading by 20 points, 63-43. Austin climbed back into the game with a 10-0 run to end the third quarter to close within nine, 80-71, heading into the final quarter.
