Tulsa Rower Susan Stangl Selected to ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America Third Team


Tulsa, Oklahoma – Tulsa rower Susan Stangl was selected to the The Magazine Academic All-America third team, as announced today by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Stangl was eligible for the All-America honors after being named to the The Magazine All-District VI first team earlier this year.

Stangl recently graduated Tulsa with a 4.0 in speech pathology. She was named to the TU President’s List and was a Conference Academic Medalist all four years, and picked up Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association () National Scholar-Athlete honors the past three years. Stangl was named to the C- All-Academic Team and was elected to membership of Phi Beta Kappa, America’s oldest and most prestigious academic honor society earlier this season. Most recently, Stangl was selected as a C- Postgraduate Scholarship Recipient.

Stangl was a four-year letterwinner and competed in nearly every regatta during her career. She was a member of TU’s Lightweight 8+ this season, which was ranked eighth in the owing Collegiate National Poll and helped that boat finish eighth at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Lightweight National Championship last week. Stangl also helped the Golden Hurricane claim the Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association team championship this year.
