Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors Place 9th at Nationals
TOP TEN: Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors make a strong push to finish third in the race, earning them ninth place overall at USRowing Youth Nationals.
Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors earned a ninth place finish at the owing Youth Nationals June 8-10 on Melton Hill Lake in Oak Ridge, Tenn. The crew of Katie Grantham (Booker T. Washington), Anne Philpot (Regent), Victoria Richter (Cascia Hall), Emily Hyde (Holland Hall) and Madison Davidson (Jenks) rowed into the history books, recording the best finish that Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors has achieved at this level of competition.
The crew rowed in fifth place for most of the race yet made a strong move in the last 750 meters of the race to move into third place by the finish line in the B final and record a ninth place overall at Youth Nationals.
This is an exciting development for Tulsa Rowing Club and shows how far it has come in recent years. The crew was coached by James Simmons, Micah Hartwell and Mollie Morehead.
“Our ladies rowed their hearts out to the best finish in history. I’m so proud of what these ladies accomplished. Tulsa Rowing Club may be small but we’ve proven we’re mighty. Look for more to come in the upcoming season,” says Varsity Coach Micah Hartwell.
The Tulsa Rowing Club Juniors are currently running summer camps for those 7th-12th grade athletes that are looking for a challenge this June.
