Tulsa’s Justin Hurtt Invited to Play in Annual Portsmouth Invitational Tournament
Tulsa, Oklahoma –– University of Tulsa basketball senior Justin Hurtt has been invited to participate in the 59th Annual Portsmouth Invitational, an all-star tournament that showcases the best college senior basketball players in the country.
Hurtt will compete with 63 other college basketball seniors in a four-day, 12-game tournament in front of representatives from every team. The tournament will be played at the Churchland High School in Portsmouth, Va., from April 6-9, 2011.
The 6’4” guard ranks among the nation’s top-15 scorers in the nation with a 20.2 scoring average, while pulling down 3.7 rebounds. Hurtt has scored in double-figures in all 23 games and has tallied 20+ scoring games 11 times. He has also scored three consecutive games over 30 points this year.
It’s the second consecutive season that a Golden Hurricane player will participate in the P.I.T. Last year, Tulsa’s Ben Uzoh, now an rookie with the New Jersey Nets, played in the event a year ago.
Over the years, the Portsmouth Invitational Tournament has been the showcase for five of the 50 greatest players in history, including Rick Barry, Earl “The Pearl” Monroe, Dave Cowens, John Stockton and Scottie Pippen.
