Tulsa’s Lightweight 8+ to Compete at IRA Championship


Cherry Hill, N.J. – The University of Tulsa women’s rowing team will conclude the season this Friday and Saturday, June 4-5, at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association Lightweight National Championship in Cherry Hill, N.J.

“It has been a great season for the entire team, but the Lightweights earning their third-straight bid to the is phenomenal,” Head Coach Kevin Harris said. “What is even better is knowing that half of the boat is made up of freshmen, which shows just how hard these women have worked to get here. I am really looking forward to seeing them race as they try to push into the top six teams in the to compete for a national championship.”

The Golden Hurricane’s Lightweight 8+, which features coxswain Abigail Gorman, and rowers Puja Sztorc, Kellyn Smith, Susan Stangl, Hannah Bogan, Molly Selig, Shantel Wagner, Anne Campbell and Heather Brooks, is currently ranked eighth by the owing Collegiate National Poll.

TU will take on #1 Wisconsin, #4 Radcliffe and #5 Georgetown in Heat 1, while #2 Stanford, #3 Princeton, #6 Bucknell and #7 will face off in Heat 2. The first two finishers in each heat will advance to the Grand Final, while the last two in each heat will race again in the Repechage. In the Repechage, the first two finishers will advance to the Grand Final, while the last two will compete in the Petite Final.
